SMART 911

SMART 911

This is a beauty blog, but once in awhile something so important comes up that I think everyone should hear about. So, today I'm talking about SMART 911. This is a free nationwide service, but not yet available in all neighborhoods.
SMART 911 is a service that complements your standard 9-1-1 service. Simply put, you give 9-1-1 the information they need to better help you and your family in the event of an emergency. You set up a profile on smart911.com, and add information that you want the first responders to have should you ever face an emergency. This can help in case you are in a situation where you or your loved ones are panicked or unable to communicate. A couple examples:
  • Elderly parent or Disabled child
  • Medical conditions such as diabetes
  • House location or access code to an entry gate
The profile can only be accessed for a limited time and only when a 911 call is made. So, your information is secure and safe.

You can check availability for your area here! If your local 911 center doesn't have the service yet, it's still worth setting up a profile because it could be coming soon. Also, if you use your cell phone number, and are travelling through an area that does have it, then your profile will still pop up to that local 911 center.
