Beauty DNA - November 2014 Review

This month Beauty DNA sent me a Bonus item this month. I'm not too sure why, but I'm guessing it's because my item was of lower value. Whatever the reason, it was a nice surprise. If you aren't familiar with Beauty DNA, for $25/month, they match you with a full size item. It's generally a luxury brand or higher value item. They also send you a card each month to let you know why they picked what they did. You fill out a profile of your preferences. They guarantee you will never get the same item twice and you will never get the same type of item more than once a year (e.g. shampoo, face wash).

 

This bonus item was Supersmile Professional Whitening System 36 - $ and 45-Degree Angled Toothbrush - $12.99. It even included a toothbrush.

 

 

My match this month was Key West Aloe Key Lime Salt Scrub - $23. It smells wonderful! I'm not really in need of this product, because I'm still using Apple Blossom & Kumquat that I got from Total Beauty. But I'll be keeping this stuff for when I'm ready for it.

This wasn't my favorite month, but I'm not disappointed either. Beauty DNA continues to match me with products I can actually use, and I have not received any products that I have on my no match list, such as flower or perfume smells. They have been so good at it that I really look forward to getting my match each month.

Bodycomfort Heat Pads Review

I recently picked these bodycomfort heat packs up at a store demo. My neck/shoulders/back were really hurting that day, and I actually had the disposable heat pads in my cart. I didn't even wait for the spunky sales girl to finish the demo, I just said I'll take it! I paid $55 and got the following heat packs:

• 2 Hand
• 2 Feet
• 2 Pocket Packs
• 1 Extra Wide Back 
• 1 Neck shoulders

I tried to show the picture with all of them laid out. I don't know how well you can see it, with it being clear plastic, but maybe the shapes show? The closest package online is $95 and does not include everything I received.

 

These are a different kind of heat pad. There is a little metal disc inside, and you press on it until it snaps. This sets off a reaction of heat, and it quickly spreads throughout the rest of the pack. I do not pretend to understand this.

It's supposed to last an hour, it lasts much longer. I'm loving it, so easy to use. The downside is "resetting" it. You are supposed to add to boiling water. I got my crockpot out for this, as I didn't really have anything else big enough. I had used the neck heatpack, which is the largest one, and the one I'm likely to use most often. It did not quite fit into the slow cooker, so I had to wait until it fully melted in the middle, and then squish the rest of it into it. It took much longer than I imagined it would.

I received the unsecented versions, but they do have scents like lavender and mint in their online store.

I made sure to wrap it in a towel first, to ensure the plastic did not stick to any edges.When I first took it out, it was warm, but then quickly became solid again. You really have to wrap it up in a towel to keep it from returning to solid before it cools. It will be much easier to reset the smaller packs, because they will easily fit into a pan and return to their liquid state. So far, I'm really happy with this purchase.

Macy's Beauty Haul - November 2014

Picked up a couple of my favorite beauty items at Macy's recently.

Benefit Porefessional and Fakeup Concealor Value Set - $31 You can use Porefessional either over or under makeup. This has a slight tint, however it applies fairly translucent. A little goes a long ways, so I was excited to get the full size version. You only need to use on problem areas, such as T-zone.
Too Faced Better than Sex mascara - $23 for the same price, This set included the travel size as well as the full size version. This mascara quickly became one of my favs, after I received a sample in a sub box earlier this year. It really does lengthen and adds volume. I can use it and not even feel like a need a primer first. Love the want.

  benefit Triple Performing Facial Emulsion  $32 - This box is so super cute! This facial mist is refreshing and work great, and I love how cute the benefit brand packaging is. Looks cute on my bathroom counter.

 

 Shiseido Power Infusing Concentrate - Full size is $95. I got this bonus sample free. I''ve received this sample size before, and I absolutely love it. I keep it handy and use it often.

 benefit Lollitint lip and cheek stain- $30. I also got this as a bonus sample. I have yet to try.

Birchbox November 2014 Review

BirchBox is $10 + tax each month. You get 5 products each month, both sample size and luxury sample. I have discovered many new brands from them. They are one of the original subscription boxes and a true inspiration. They also do monthly videos and it's quite obvious they work very well together, and have fun doing it!

This months box was wrapped up in this advertisement for HIV awareness. Burchbox has teamed up with Red for AIDS awareness. Amika Nourishing Mask Sea Buckhorn Berry - I thought this was a face mask, but it's not, it's a hair mask. I never heard of this brand, but I'll try it.

the Balm Cosmetics Ciney-Lou Manizer - This is a highlighter, shimmer, shadow. I have gotten Balm Cosmetics items before, and I LOVE their packaging. Seriously, does it get any cuter?? LOVE.

 

 

Cuppa Cuppa Tea Tree Mask - This was the item I got to pick this month. It's a clay mask. Leave on for 8 minutes. I wish it was bigger, but I think this will be a one use item.

Gilchrist & Soames Spa Therapy body lotion relaxing sea fennel - The fragrance is not too bad, smells refreshing. Like a cucumber.

Cynthia Rowley Creamy LipStain in Heartthrob - I love the color, this is perfect for me. I was just almost out of my other teeny tiny lip gloss, which I like to have in my smallest going out purse, so this is good timing for NYE.

Dang Coconut Chips -  It's a snack, so naturally I've already opened and started working on it. It's exactly like it sounds. Crunches like chips, and tasts like coconut. I imagine this would be a good topping on a salad or a sundae.

ThirdLove Thong 3 pack - This was my upgrade item. I've had this brand before and they are super stretchy.
